Greater Bay Alliance of Clinical Trials Excellence (GBAct) was officially inaugurated at the 2026 DIA China Annual Meeting in Shanghai on 16 May 2026, marking a major milestone for clinical research across the Greater Bay Area (GBA). Macau University of Science and Technology Clinical Trials Centre (MUST-CTC) is honoured to be among the founding members of this landmark alliance.
GBAct unites 14 clinical trial institutions across 10 GBA cities under a shared mission: to build a robust resource-sharing ecosystem and amplify the region's collective “GBA Strength” in clinical research.
GBAct is jointly led by two distinguished Co-Chairs: Professor Xu Zhong-yuan, Director of the GCP Office and the Drug Clinical Trial Center at Southern Medical University Nanfang Hospital, and Mr. Henry Yau, Managing Director of HKU Clinical Trials Centre. By combining cross-border expertise, world-class facilities, and diverse populations, GBAct aims to accelerate the translation of innovative research to benefit more patients.
"GBAct is a long-term commitment to shared progress," Professor Xu and Mr. Yau jointly remarked at the inauguration. "We look forward to driving the future of biomedical innovation across the region."
Building on its long-standing collaboration with regional partners through platforms, such as ClinCluster, MUST-CTC continues to strengthen its engagement in cross-border clinical research. During the 2026 DIA China Annual Meeting, Dr. Valencia Chang, Executive Director of MUST-CTC, also took part in the GBA Forum, serving as Session Chair alongside fellow industry leaders to exchange insights on advancing clinical research collaboration across the region.
